WSJ: Uber Overhaul Aims to Keep Users Inside the App

Uber Technologies Inc. is hoping customers will take a ride through its app and not just in its cars.

The San Francisco startup Wednesday is rolling out a revamped mobile application with new features designed to keep people using it as they are chauffeured around town, including access in the app to the Snapchat social network and to Yelp Inc. restaurant reviews.

Uber said the new app also would speed drop-off and pickup times by remembering customers’ most-visited places and, if they agree, by accessing their digital calendars to mark meeting times and locations. It is the first complete overhaul of the app in four years.
